Ack! I am having troubles. I tried to upload a new image of myself onto this blog because a good friend and fellow blogger suggested recently that I should have my photo on here. She said readers like to know who they are talking to. I agree. I like that when I read blogs. It is difficult to choose a pleasing photo of your face, though. The one I have right now is okay, but it is not the one I wanted. I guess that goes for my face but hey we can't have everything we want, right? I put the one I wanted on my Facebook page for my blog, but then realized as I enlarged it there are silver balls from my roller blinds hovering over my head and now, that won't do either. Jeezum Petes, as my sister and I used to say.
I just got back from Art In The Pearl which was very very crowded. I was going to make my children go, but I am glad I did not. They only have a few days left of lounging around in underpants eating chips for lunch and I am not going deprive them of that heaven. Right? I mean, they have their whole lives ahead of them and countless days of school coming up where they will have to get up earlier than they want and do things they don't want to. If they want to miss out on this little slice of Portlandia, so be it. Anyway, it wasn't amazing. It was hot and there were too many dogs and I really just wanted to hang out with Yo. We had a lovely afternoon yesterday walking downtown and in the Pearl district.(Hey, yesterday I actually fed my kids lunch. They don't have to eat only chips except maybe once or twice a week, promise.) We discovered this secret fancy alley of shops near Powell's books. It is called Union Way and it is a micro retail space between Powell's and the Ace Hotel. It smelled good in there, like leather and new wood. I peeked at a cute new candy store which looked so fancy, I was kind of scared to go in, but apparently they sell Water Avenue coffee marshmallows and lots of fancy gumdrops! What what?! I need to go back. Who wants to come? Quin Candy is the name of the shop. It looks like they are going to put a ramen restaurant in soon. We went to see a movie at the Living Room Theater which is my favorite place to see movies. It feels especially date like, because you can order a nice olive plate or small happy hour type dishes with your wine or beer in nice glasses and they have tables with reserved seating. It is small so my suggestion is get the back row because it is the best. We saw The Spectacular Now which I liked. I did not know anything about it except it was a teen romance. The performances were good and it is not at all cliche, with some really flawed characters with subtlety. Maybe a little like you were being a voyeur to this teen love. The lead male reminded me a little of an older verging on alcoholic version of Corey in Boy Meets World, which was distracting at first. No Topenga. Ha!
Anyway, that was my weekend. I will upload photos soon. Come on by my Facebook page. It is called A decent sparrow, too. Not much action there, yet. Still a work in progress. I am feeling the need for some change. Maybe some changes on the blog page. Different colors. Lately I am drawn to icy soft blues and pale turquoise with pearly grey/charcoal. Usually I am all about the warm tones, pumpkin, squash yellow, olive green and lots of pinky peachy corals. But right now, maybe I just want something refreshing, like a cool watercolor palette. That is where my color head is at.
I have a really hard time titling my blog posts. I think it is really hard. Especially when these posts seem to be about everything and nothing. Do you have this trouble, too, friend bloggers? What is your tactic? Do you think of the title first? I am ususally in such a rush to publish posts so I don't chicken out and delete them.
Did you all watch Project Runway?? The shoe episode? It was not my favorite. If you don't read Tom and Lorenzo, who give the best catty comments. I URGE YOU TO DO SO. My comments pale in comparison. HERE. I liked Ken's dress and I think Alexander's plaid pants were a force to be reckoned with. Honestly I didn't like too much else. I never seem to agree with the judges. Shows what I know. I really did not like that gladiator/lingerie combo AT ALL. Nope. And Kate's look was awful. I could kind of see where Jeremy was trying to go and applaud him for some adventure. I also felt bad for Braden because I think he has talent but whoa whoa whoa circle skirt. Bad idea, show tunes. Is it my imagination or does that model always get stuck with the worst fashions?
Okay that is all for now. I'll be back. I am going to try and write more posts. They might not be good, but thanks for listening anyway. xo
