I have seen a bunch of movies lately. The new James Bond, Skyfall, was AWESOME. Great pace and that Daniel Craig is tres HOT. The film Les Miserables was REALLY GREAT! Also, I saw that one with some lovely ladies and that just made it all the better. I didn't know the story which I think made it better. It was emotionally wrenching but I did not cry as much at the movie as at that damn preview for The Impossible. What the what? That one just about killed me. How am I going to watch that? Then, I saw Django Unchained which was very entertaining. I liked its style, though it was kind of choppy in some parts, over long in others. Christopher Waltz is so skilled. I would definitely recommend it if you like Quentin Tarantino. He has a pretty fab cameo, by the way. I saw The Hobbit with my kids over Christmas Break, which was also very exciting. I loved that book and watching that movie reminded me of reading it in the fifth grade. I dressed up as a Hobbit for my Halloween costume that year and NO ONE knew what the heck a Hobbit was. Surprisingly I am still alive, because in New Orleans public school being a nerd geek doesn't always work out so well. Anyway, I digress. Then, I saw Paranorman which was very good. I liked how they did the hair effects. I thought the faces were sort of distractingly weird, but it was fun.
Okay, so since I am discussing movies. I wanted to ask you... have you ever had a celebrity encounter?? I want to know about it. These are some of the celebrities I have met over the years. Mostly just a hey, how are you kind of met, not like, they took me to dinner and offered me a job based on my lovely eyes or anything. Here's my list in no particular order:
- Pat Morita (in Thailand, have it on video!)
- Mare Winningham (she bought art supplies)
- Gene Hackman (he also bought art supplies, my co-worker Barb about fainted, we saved his visa slip and framed it.)
- Tom Hulce (he came into our import gallery, he had a dog and glasses and was nice)
- Richard Chamberlain (wore a running suit, my husband said he looked so familiar.... haha!)
- Harvey Keitel (signed our guestbook)
- David Byrne (bought markers for his daughter. He is hella tall..)
- Barry Bostwick (import gallery signed the guestbook)
I did a lot of capitalizing in this post. I am hanging out with my husband a lot lately. Tell me your celebrity encounters. Also, Happy New Year! Thank you for reading my BLOG! You guys are AWESOME. Let's go get coffee sometime. xoxo
you have seen a lot of celebrities and movies anne. mike has a good list of celebs too. I may have seen andy warhol in a club in ny in the 80's from a couple feet away. thats my best one probably. but it may have been a look a like. it was dark. So my best one is sort of imaginary which is perfect when discussing the celeb world I think. xo
ReplyDeleteI saw Kenny G in the airport in Seattle a couple of weeks ago, so yeah, I'm pretty much a baller.
ReplyDeleteThe only times I've come anywhere near a celebrity I have become totally dumbstruck, aka the only thing I could do was giggle and smile. Oh, except the one time my mom said, "Megan, that was Roger Taylor (the drummer from Queen)." And I then yelled, "Really, where?!" And looked around the room with my mouth hanging open...
ReplyDeleteSuperb. Celebrities Times has also the hot news.
ReplyDeleteYour celebrity sightings are so much better than mine! Mine is Mary Tyler Moore (Statue of Liberty) and I can't remember who else. Does it count that I walked past City Hall when they were filming Portlandia and I saw Fred Armisen? It was pretty exciting for me!
ReplyDeleteLet's see...Ed Begley, Jr. came into the toy store. The lead singer of the Shins comes in a lot. In New York I saw Liev Schreiber, Natalie Portman and Christy Turlington. I also missed Britney Spears by ten minutes in Anthropologie. The girls working there were freeeeaaaaking out. This was 2001 so...she was a big deal. I was shopped at a Hello Kitty type store in L.A. when David Duchovny was there. I love celebrity sightings too! Jealous of your friend who saw Mary Tyler Moore!!!
ReplyDeleteI would have been pretty excited to see Ed Begley, Jr. At Child's Play? Or Kids At Heart? I am kind of glad to know David Duchovny has a Hello Kitty side. Yes, MTM would be pretty awesome. That's what I call her, MTM. Like we're close. Thanks for commenting, Eliza!! xo
